- Depeche Mode — Enjoy the Silence Anton Corbijn sent a king with a deckchair round the world looking for somewhere quiet.
- Sinéad O'Connor — Nothing Compares 2 U John Maybury shot one unbroken close-up. The tear was not in the script.
- Nirvana — In Bloom Kevin Kerslake's pastiche of a 1960s variety show, down to the kinescope grain.

- Björk — Human Behaviour Michel Gondry's first video for her — a hedgehog, a bear and a hunter, all wrong on purpose.
- Nirvana — Heart-Shaped Box Cobain sketched the poppy field and the crucified old man himself.
- Beastie Boys — Sabotage Spike Jonze's fake 1970s cop show. The band did their own moustaches.
- Weezer — Buddy Holly Cut into real Happy Days footage, and shipped on the Windows 95 CD.
- Nine Inch Nails — Closer Mark Romanek aged the film by hand; MTV aired it with a dozen shots blacked out.

- Michael Jackson & Janet Jackson — Scream The most expensive music video ever made, and it is still the record.
- Smashing Pumpkins — Tonight, Tonight Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris rebuilding Georges Méliès' A Trip to the Moon, from 1902.
- Daft Punk — Around the World Each instrument gets its own dancers — the bassline is the robots, the vocoder is the mummies.
- Aphex Twin — Come to Daddy Chris Cunningham put Richard D. James' face on a pack of children.
- Jamiroquai — Virtual Insanity Jonathan Glazer. The floor never moved — the walls were on rollers.
- Missy Elliott — The Rain (Supa Dupa Fly) Hype Williams, a fisheye lens and an inflated bin bag.

- Fatboy Slim — Weapon of Choice Christopher Walken dances alone through an empty hotel, and then flies.
- Johnny Cash — Hurt Romanek shot it in the closed House of Cash museum, and Reznor said the song stopped being his.
- Kylie Minogue — Come into My World One take, four times, each with a duplicate of everything. The seams are invisible.
